How to Build a Fantasy Football Team
How to Build a Fantasy Football Team
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Souza]Michael Souza
Every year, thousands upon thousands of people embark on the annual pilgrimage known as "The Fantasy Football Draft". Fantasy Football is essentially a season-long contest played by football buffs in which a player or "team owner" can set up their own "virtual" football team and contend with teams established by other individuals. You get to be the coach, general manager, and team owner all by yourself. There are many thoughts and viewpoints about how to go about selecting a successful Fantasy Football team, but I want to give you a some recommendations to maximize your success.
1. One of the most important measures is to start off by studying pre-draft guides which are better known as "Strategy guides or Cheat Sheets". Cheat sheets will assist you to break down the approaching draft beforehand and set up your picks in advance. They also make it easier to prevent you from "spontaneity" selections. Begin your research long before the draft. There are a multitudes of online resources to read, and beginning your research ahead of time will save you the difficulty of getting bombarded with the irritating preseason/ pre-draft hoopla that often blows up about unproven or rookie players during the days running up to most fantasy drafts.
2. You would be well advised to participate in Mock Drafts, to get accustomed to the experience of an actual Live Fantasy Football draft. There are many websites that feature Live Drafts, such as ESPN, Yahoo, MSN Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc.. They all have various styles of leagues and regulations. Be sure that you fully understand the principles of different leagues and their particular scoring systems, as this may impact how you pick/choose your teams. Most leagues are based on mainly on offensive stats, but some leagues have points for individual defensive categories as well. And others also have individual defensive players drafted too. It really pays to do your homework and know this stuff.
3. An additional suggestion is to build your team around a solid core of running backs. Running backs are thought to be the most crucial position in fantasy football, and generally gain the majority of points for a fantasy football league team. The majority of the expert Fantasy Football players believe that taking running backs first is the most important point in drafting a great team. Most successful team owners love to draft at least three starting RB (running backs). The reasoning behind the this idea is that basically a star running back frequently supplies a great deal more worth during the course of a season than a mid-level running back, particularly when compared against other popular positions. Running backs can garner fantasy points in the passing game as well as th run game. This paired together with the fact that nearly all leagues begin a season with at least 2 starters at the RB position implies the high value of selecting running backs early..
4. Refrain from taking quarterbacks aka(field generals) too quickly in your fantasy football draft. Take them in the midway portion of your selected draft and save the kickers and defensive units for the final few rounds of a typical draft. Keep from choosing your sleepers (players who fly under the radar prior to the draft) too quickly. Sleeper picks are usually a good bet in the middle to late rounds.
5. Another good idea is to use a player "handcuff". The basic idea of "a player handcuff" is the selection of the top two players from the same team at a given position (usually RB) that serves to protect the fantasy investment with the starting player. Running backs provide a lot of upside, but are probably the most injury-prone position in football, so it might be wise to enlist the substitute to this player in the late rounds. If for example the star player got hurt you would then possess a backup who would have a great chance to gain comparable numbers to the starter.
6. Please try not to be a "fairweather" owner and quit halfway through a season. I have seen this happen way too many times. By no longer maintaining you team on the playing field each week, it's possible to adversely impact your Fantasy League's season by altering the balance of teams and games played. If you stick to the guidelines presented, you will have an advantage over most of your opponents and will likely enjoy a lot of success in your Fantasy Football League.

Youth Football Special Teams Philosophy
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jeff_Hemhauser]Jeff Hemhauser
The goal for our Special Teams is to make every extra point attempt, have solid punt and kickoff coverage, and to have big punt and kickoff returns. We will not overlook special teams in practice because of the importance of winning the field position battle as well as scoring points. Scoring on special teams can give our team a boost we might have needed or even determine the outcome of a game.
We will win the special team battle game in and game out. We will pride ourselves in solid coverage of punts and kickoffs. We will cover punts & kickoffs with extreme shed blocking skill, speed, power, and discipline in staying in our lane assignments. We will tackle and dislodge the ball from their return guy, ultimately gaining another offensive possession. We will be flawless in our onside kick recovery team. Having good execution on an onside kick can be the difference in winning or losing.
We will pride ourselves in having positive punt & kickoff returns. We will gain large amounts of yardage and scoring with our return teams. Scoring on special teams and winning the field position battle will tremendously help our team achieve a positive outcome at the game's conclusion. We will be disciplined with our punt return blocking assignments and punt rushing (block the punt) scheme. We will be perfect in our onside kick recovery team. Having good execution with your hands team is essential for securing our scoring lead and the game!
We will pride ourselves on making every extra point attempt (kicking the extra point is worth two points in youth football). We will practice long snapping, holding, & kicking the ball through the field goal every day. It is essential that we convert on all extra point attempts. We will become sound with our extra point block teams. We will not allow a team to kick the extra point (field goal). We must execute our extra point block scheme flawless to deter teams for getting two extra points.
Being strong in the special teams phase of the game will be a key part to our team's success. We will win the field position battle with solid kickoff and punt coverage. We will also use our punt and kickoff return teams to set our offense up in good field position, as well as scoring points. We will practice punting/ kickoff direction & distance every practice. We will practice our long snapping, holding, and extra point kicking every practice till it is perfect. Teams over look special teams, not us we will practice special teams every day. We will have a distinct advantage in special teams. We will score points and win the field position battle which will help lead to our team's VICTORY.
